Hi! The past two weeks have been chaotic, hence my disappearance as of late. I promise that I’m back.
So, for the past few years, I’ve been trying really hard to switch all of my beauty products to companies that are Cruelty-Free. It’s a really big deal to me and it’s also very difficult. It means saying goodbye to a lot of products that I love and trust. It also means testing out a lot of new products to see what works for me.
That being said, I’ve had great success with anything from LUSH and NYX. I’m looking for hair dye, but I’m having trouble there.
What cruelty-free items do you use?
Lighting is a bit poor, sorry. The sweater is one of my new favorites from Old Navy. The scarf is from H&M and I love the little kisses all over it. Goes well with the sweater. Overall, I love my outfit, but the pants annoy me. Yet again, Rockstar Skinnies from Old Navy, and even though they’re the same size as my other pair, they don’t fit as well. They look a bit tighter on me and give me more of a muffin top than the other pair I own. I’m a huge fan of jeans, and am always looking for new pairs that are great. Where do you get your jeans?
Nothing super flashy today. The sweater is from H&M, from like 2 years ago. I love this sweater so much and probably wear it too much. It’s not super heavy, so it’s a great fall sweater. It also looks great with scarves.
I love shoes. A lot. As I’m female, I guess that’s not really a shocker. However, I’m not really into heels and such. I have a hard time walking in heels, so I don’t find them as fun to collect. Sneakers and slip ons, on the other hand, are my jam.
For my birthday this year, my wonderful bear friend bought me an awesome pair of Toms. He remembered me pointing out some girl’s shoes on the train one day, saying that I liked them. Hers were black, which he was going to buy, until he saw these bright cobalt blue ones. He thought they looked cooler and I just love them.
Toms from Thom
I really do love these shoes. Sometimes, they’re a little tough to pair with clothing, but I like the challenge. I go out of my way to create outfits that go with these shoes. They’re also super comfortable and lightweight (as most Toms are, naturally) and I love slipping them on for work.
What’s your favorite pair of shoes?
I have a penchant for liking odd things. One of those odd things is the sloth. I think sloths are incredibly adorable and hilarious.
I also thought this necklace, from Newbury Comics, was amazing. I quickly snagged it for $10 recently. Just wanted to share!
Today, I actually took a little time and made myself look slightly presentable for work today.
Sorry for the blurriness!
Anywho, the outfit seemed super cute while still staying comfortable. Very nanny chic. Everything is from Old Navy, mins the Chucks, of course.
I mentioned in my first post that I have zero sense of style. This is a lie. I do have a sense of style. I just am lazy. I also am a nanny by profession, and I currently work with infants. Because of this, my daily uniform tends to be some sort of graphic tee, skinny jeans, and sneakers. I don’t hate this style at all. I’m a tshirt and jeans kinda girl. However, sometimes I wish I had some sort of corporate officey type job that I can wear cute pencil skirts and heels and blazers to. Alas, that is not me.
So today, I don’t mind myself saying that I actually enjoy my outfit. I don’t think I look too much like a slob.
Who ya gonna call?
The tshirt is a recent purchase from 80s Tees and the jeans are the mid rise Rockstar skinnies from Old Navy. Matched with my Dodger Blue Chuck Taylors, I think I look alright today. Maybe not the most flattering outfit I could wear, but this definitely fits my personality type and I’m comfortable at work, wranglin’ babies and running around Somerville.
What is your go-to work outfit?
